Fixing Chipped & Discoloured Teeth
The wear and tear we put on our teeth daily can break them down. This can result in a chip or a crack, or even cause them to become discoloured. Playing sports without proper oral protection, or grinding our teeth, can also result in chips and cracks.
At Acre 21 Dental Clinic, our dentists can use veneers to create a more uniform and whiter smile for you.
Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain that are bonded to the front of teeth to improve their appearance. They can be a natural-looking and long-lasting solution for chips, cracks and discolouration.

Lumineers®
In addition to traditional veneers, we also offer Lumineers. These ultra-thin veneers are a minimally-invasive way to achieve a beautiful smile with little to no removal of the tooth structure.
The Dental Veneer Process
Your dentist will first assess your teeth to determine if you're a suitable candidate. If so, they will prepare your teeth by gently removing some enamel to make space for the veneers. They will then take impressions, which will be sent to a dental lab so a technician can create your custom veneers. This may take a few weeks to complete. In the meantime, temporary veneers can be placed if needed.
Once finished, your permanent veneers will be sent to our office. You'll return so that we can apply your permanent veneers. In doing so, we will check the shape, colour and fit of the veneers, bond them using dental cement and make any adjustments if needed.
Veneers vs. Crowns
A porcelain veneer covers the front surface of a tooth to enhance its appearance. They are used to hide chips, cracks and discolouration. Dental crowns, on the other hand, cover the entire tooth to give it added strength and protection.
Ultimately, dental veneers are a cosmetic option, meaning they enhance your teeth but don’t strengthen or repair them. Dental crowns are primarily used to restore and strengthen teeth that have been significantly damaged.
Both treatments can help improve the overall look of your teeth, but they serve different purposes in terms of dental health.
