Reshaping Your Smile
Are gaps between your teeth making you feel self-conscious? Do you have a chipped or discoloured tooth that you want to fix to enhance your smile?
Dental bonding is a minimally invasive procedure used to repair discoloured or chipped teeth, close gaps between teeth or change the shape of teeth to make them look more symmetrical.
Dental bonding uses a tooth-coloured composite resin your dentist will carefully sculpt and shape to the affected tooth or teeth to change their shape, size or colour. Your dentist will be sure to select a colour of resin that blends with your natural teeth.

The Bonding Procedure
The bonding process can usually be completed in one visit and takes about 30-60 minutes per tooth. The process is as follows:
- Your dentist will select a shade of composite resin that matches your tooth's natural colour.
- A conditioning liquid is applied to help the composite resin stick.
- The resin is applied, molded and smoothed to the required shape.
- A special curing light hardens the resin and bonds it to the tooth's surface.
- Final adjustments are made to polish the tooth to a natural-looking shine.
Bonding vs. Veneers
Porcelain veneers are custom-made ceramic shells that bond to the front of your teeth. They require some enamel removal during placement. They are a long-lasting solution, but replacement may be necessary every 10 to 20 years to maintain their appearance and functionality.
Dental bonding, on the other hand, is a minimally invasive procedure that does not involve enamel removal. However, bonded teeth may require touch ups every three to 10 years to maintain their appearance.
Both porcelain veneers and dental bonding can improve the appearance of your teeth by fixing imperfections, such as chips, gaps and discolouration.
